Vienna After Dark - Vienna's first international conference for club culture takes place in November.
As an institution commissioned by the City of Vienna, the Vienna Club Commission's task is to promote and represent the local club culture, as well as to ensure its protection.
For this reason, the VCC is hosting a conference on urban nightlife with a focus on club culture in Vienna for the first time from November 14-16, 2024, in partnership with three of the most internationally renowned organisations for urban nightlife: NIGHTS from the European network NEWNet, the international conference STADT NACH ACHT from Berlin, and the global network VIBELAB from Amsterdam.
Local curators contribute expertise directly from the scene.
Local expertise will be contributed by Vienna's active club and event actors Janet Bakalarz, Karin Cheng, Masha Dabelka, Rey Joichl, Sandro Nicolussi, and Dorian Pearce in the conference's curatorial team. The aim of the conference is to transform nighttime Vienna into a forward-looking, low-conflict, and continuously livable city through dialogue, international case studies, and workshops. The aim of the conference is to use dialog, international case studies and workshops to transform nocturnal Vienna into a forward-looking, low-conflict city that is continuing to be one of the most liveable cities.
To showcase the connection between Vienna's high culture and club culture, Club U, Sass Music Club, Schikaneder, Salon im Künstlerhaus, Stadtkino, and Ludwig & Adele will be transformed into the central venues of the conference from Thursday to Friday. On Saturday, satellite events will take place in clubs across the city.
More than 25 keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, networking events, and excursions through Vienna's nightlife are planned. Additionally, over 125 speakers from more than 15 countries will be invited to Vienna to discuss topics related to the social, cultural, and economic relevance of club culture.
At the Vienna After Dark Conference, we may take photos and/or audio/visual recordings in order to document our event and activities and to broadcast (live), advertise and report on them.
